As I assist my eCommerce clients to integrate Shopify and MailChimp as well as train people how to integrate the two services, I need a Shopify store on which to test and demonstrate. I have used various demo Shopify stores in the past to demonstrate to clients how they can increase sales by integrating with MailChimp. I’ve decided however to setup a live store to make my Shopify to MailChimp eCommerce training more meaningful.
Where is the Stripe Payment Gateway option in Shopify?
I love Shopify and really think that they have a great service. I was therefore a little surprised when setting up my new store; I use Stripe as my payment gateway for the MailChimp services I provide so decided to setup Stripe as my payment gateway (in the past I’ve always used the bogus gateway for my demo stores). I however couldn’t see Stripe listed in the Select a Credit Card Gateway selector; Shopify Payments, Paypal, eWAY, Authorize.net and many others were listed but not Stripe.
After a bit of searching I eventually found out that Shopify Payments use Stripe as their service provider. I couldn’t find that an existing Stripe account can be used for a Shopify store therefore the need to create a new account.
Stripe instructions for Shopify

- In the Accept Credit Cards section select Shopify Payments.
