A few weeks ago my desktop computer needed a Windows restore / repair. All went fine except for Google Chrome browser. For some odd reason it had my old login details and I absolutely could not login with my new details. I kept getting error messages like “You were signed into chrome as email@example.com. Please sign in again” and “this account is already being used on this computer”. Even if I went to Chrome settings the Disconnect your Google account was not available (greyed out). Also, Chrome kept asking me to login however kept giving me the “You were signed into chrome as firstname.lastname@example.org. Please sign in again” error message i.e. it just kept taking me from one issue to the next.
Luckily I eventually figured out how to resolve this sign-in issue. Follow these steps to login with the correct account:
- Click the ‘Customise and control Google Chrome’ icon in the top right of Chrome.
- Click ‘Settings’.
- Under ‘Users’ click ‘Delete this user’.
- Accept the warning (I got some strange warning about to deleting ‘First User’).
- Now you should be able to sign in successfully.
